Lailah & Co was founded in 2021 with a simple idea: choosing fine jewellery should feel as personal as the reason you are buying it.

I had always been fascinated by jewellery, gemstones and the stories behind the pieces we keep. But I also saw a gap in the South African jewellery experience. A purchase as meaningful as an engagement ring could often feel transactional, intimidating or driven by the sale.

I wanted to create something different. A place where you could ask questions freely, understand what you are buying and feel genuinely supported in making the right decision for you.

That became Lailah & Co.

It started much smaller.

Before Lailah & Co, there was Iced by Lailah.

I launched the brand as a full-time postgraduate student, working from my bedroom in my parents' home before I even had a website. The early collections centred around semi-precious jewellery and accessible alternatives to traditional diamond engagement rings.

As the business grew, so did my fascination with fine jewellery and my vision for the brand.

What began in a bedroom evolved into Lailah & Co, a fine-jewellery business specialising in meaningful pieces, engagement rings, diamonds and natural gemstones.

The business eventually needed a space of its own too.

Today, I still work from home, now from a dedicated Lailah & Co office designed around giving my clients a considered virtual experience.

I built Lailah & Co alongside my career.

After university, I began my career in marketing. I loved my job, and it shaped the way I run Lailah & Co today. 

It taught me to think beyond the product. To care about the processes behind an experience, to understand what clients need, to pay attention to data and insights, and to build a brand intentionally.

But eventually, Lailah & Co needed more of me.

I realised I could no longer give everything to my career while also giving this business the attention it needed to become what I knew it could be.

So I chose Lailah & Co.

Jewellery marks life.

An engagement. A wedding. An anniversary. A personal milestone. A gift that says something words cannot quite capture.

Fine jewellery can become part of some of the most significant moments of our lives and, sometimes, part of the lives that come after ours.

That is why I have never viewed a Lailah & Co piece as simply another order.

My fascination with fine jewellery eventually led me to further my education through the GIA Applied Jewelry Professional™ programme, with formal study across diamonds, coloured gemstones and fine jewellery.

That knowledge is not there to make the buying process feel more complicated. It is there to make it clearer.

I help you understand your options, compare diamonds and gemstones with confidence, know where your budget is best spent and make an informed decision without feeling pressured.

You do not need to know the terminology before speaking to me.

There are no silly questions here.

As Lailah & Co has grown, I have been intentional about protecting the experience it was built on.

When you book a consultation, you speak to me. I help develop your design, source your diamond or gemstone options, guide you through the details and personally answer your messages throughout the process.

I am there while your piece is being created, and I am usually the person packing it before it makes its way to you.

Because personal service should not disappear as a business grows.

For Lailah & Co, it is part of the point.

About Our Bench Jewellers and Setters

While I design and oversee every Lailah & Co piece, each ring is expertly handcrafted in Cape Town by the skilled bench jewellers and diamond setters I've partnered with.

With more than 30 years of experience in the trade, their craftsmanship and technical expertise ensure that every ring is created to the highest standard.

This is only the beginning.

I am building Lailah & Co for the long term.

I see a future beyond my home office. A beautiful Lailah & Co showroom where I can welcome you over bubbles or a cappuccino, where we can sit together, try on pieces, look at diamonds and gemstones, and talk through what you are creating.

But I never want growth to come at the expense of what made this brand special in the first place.

The goal is not simply to create more jewellery. It is to create pieces that become part of people's lives. The engagement ring that becomes a reminder of where it all began. The anniversary piece that celebrates everything that came after. The jewellery bought to mark a personal achievement.

The piece that, decades from now, is passed into someone else's hands with a story attached to it.

That is the kind of fine-jewellery brand I am building.
