The design

The high profile lifts your diamond above the band, so a wedding band can sit straight and flush underneath it. The marquise is the longest of the elongated shapes, which makes the finger look longer and slimmer.

Good to know: a marquise has the largest surface area of any diamond shape for its carat weight, so it often looks bigger than other shapes of the same carat. Its two points are its most delicate parts, so the setting is designed to protect them. Like ovals, some marquises show a darker "bow-tie" across the centre.
